I just had injectors cleaned and flow tested at RC injector. The were returned with black tips instead of blue.
I recall I think from Joe @ DBR that this could be an issue, any input would be greatly appreciated.
Dont want to run them if there’s any chance of tear my motors up.

Thanks for the memory. I was a young man when I saw Slim Moffet push the Atchinson, Topeka and Santa Fe back from a long smokey burnout with Russ Collins stretched out across the backbone of the triple engine Honda fueler.
It's just shy of that many decades that RC Engineering has been a pioneer in the injector market. Some of the companies that build injectors will change the end caps for I.D. purposes at a later date on unit's that they flow.
If they have been on and off a few times, it's better they change them than have one fall on in the motor. The injector will run just fine without a cap ... the motor ... maybe not so much ...
You should have gotten a flow sheet back with your injectors. That's what really matters. Put your light guys up top and the heavies at the bottom. Other concerns, call RCE with your invoice number, they'll tell ya what all them numbers mean ...

Even though it was never competitive, I sure would have liked to have poked around the "Sorcerer" before it got wadded up ... :(

I’ve used Brucato to clean and flow ALL my customers injectors for 20 + years 2-3 sets a week and I always get back what I send with no changes in tip coloration . But I have seen tip colors that differ set to set I m thinking vintage differences ???

I stand corrected. Russ crashed the triple which led him to build Sorcerer. A problematic work of art which managed to hold the T/F record for nearly a decade. His son now owns both restored bikes as well as the family business.

The Bosch / Kehien design is such an antique that the guys down the street from me at TheInjectorClinic.com actually feel sorry for people still stuck using them. I usually tell them that's OK, its work as good as can be expected, with the rest of the archaic components that drive them. :)

While this has nothing to do with war stories, adjustable pintles, or personal preferences, which I have my own as well. Instead, I'll just say ..
I reached a point with my big bore 3.0L based motors where the 490cc/min. pink tip injector was still in the 15:1 A/F ratio @ 65 PSI
I found a company that would build me a BRAND NEW injector with the same ho-hum outside dimensions, stainless body, 2.2 ohm coil, ( also offered in a saturated coil) modern valving, ANY custom flow rate from 400 up to 750 cc / min. Their standard deal is also black caps. I'm sure if I whined a little, they could find me some lighter color caps. That way they would fuel stain like the old ones do ... ;)

No-Brainer........ Now I put em in everything ... :)

With a stock 3" crank they are 210 cubic inch's 3450cc

I have another set I'm doing now with 3.2 cranks 218 cubic inch's 3600cc

They do take either billet heads or it would take welding the O-ring bores closed on a stock head and moving them outboard.

I have been running them up and down our river, with the wheels I have, my 25' Motion is like riding an open class motocross bike. I'm waiting on my new set of wheels to show up. Then we are sposta do some video flogging at the lake with a couple of friends ...

And when I had the first two blocks out to where the port-tracer sleeve would drop in for a final 4.005 .. I looked inside and he said : I told you that you were going to have a lot of work to get the port depth back. I said .. I aint worried about that ... Look at all that meat ... I'll bet we could get a 4.000 slug in this M.F.... ;) :D

Chas, Are you able to achieve his big bore with XS motors?

Tenkiller,
That is an opti block. You can barely see the triangle cut-outs on the deck, way up by the exhaust box. As well as the oil holes down between the ports to the left. I believe they also have more silicone in the aluminium than the older ones, by the "splotchy" finish you get on the walls after machining.

As far as running one as an Opti-Max. No sir I have not. I'm not sure that the fuel / air compressor side of things has the capacity to flow the additional 15 -20% of fuel required to make it happy.
