Whats the difference in the helms, other than fluid capacity? I have a Seastar system, but my helm is bad and leaks. Can a Baystar helm be used with a Seastar steering cylinder?

Main differences are the internals of the 2 system, seastar is made with higher grade components, stainless etc, the helms and cylinders can be used together, they are interchangeable.

Baystar is a lower hp rated system as I recall. I would check the relief valve pressure and the capacity of the helm.

I’m pretty sure the BayStar systems are 1000psi relief valves.
1.1, 1.4 and 1.6 ci/rev displacement. You’ll have to look up your cyclider P/N and get the volume, divide the volume by output to get the lock-to-lock.
ex. 8.34/1.4= 5.9 turns lock-to-lock.
The SeaStar is supposed to be a more efficient pump that that’s lower effort and
are also 1000psi relief valve, available in 1.7 and 2.0 ci/rev.
The 2.0 would give you about 4.2 turns (assuming an 8.34 ci cylinder volume).
Both systems have the NFB valves in them.
