Right now, I'm trying to figure out a price that I should offer for one.

Good useable 225 Promax and 260 blocks are going to get really hard to find.

I still don't know what they are currently worth. it seems the complete power heads are coming down in price. the odd thing is that a complete new power head is still listed on the parts sites. $8700 but the block is listed as no longer available.

the block I'm looking at needs some cylinder work, but is a stock block.

Don't know where you heard new bare blocks (9763T65) were NLA. I just bought one from Performance Products Technologies. Check their website. Boats.net also shows them available.

Wintech is who I'm going to build my power head. Nick did my Pro Max last winter and I can't say enough about what a great job he did for me. Supper happy.

Look by the time you buy a used one with a bad hole for 500 -600 and have it fixed and bored then buy new pistons , you can buy a new block and use a stock or 260 crank or a stock promax crank and use stock pistons and rods . They come with the matching front half but no dowel pins for the crank , which don’t cost much anyway so there ya go !

I got my pro max rebuilt last winter, so I definitely know what your saying. But this winter project is building a power head for my sport jet, so I don't need the real nice pistons, as max rpm is 6000 rpm, (pump limit) and I have to use a sport jet crank. and will stay with the carbs. and even with a new block, I would still have some machining done:)
