Welds on front half and one rod slot.

Cylinders pulled round and honed.

All done by Ruck / US Chrome.

I am still sitting on this block.

Ruck said that he would charge $3000 for a block like this.

Can bring to California next week and ship from there.

Interested in it in California. What do you mean "Either all Nic nearly new, or 2 cylinders."
I don't get it.

I don’t remember if, in the end, we replaced 2 sleeves with new Nicom sleeves, or if US Chrome re-coated all 6 cylinders.

Does that make it clearer?

Hey Markus, are you back? What is the state of your Skater?

Yeah that makes sense. Just making sure they were all nik in the end. What part of California will you be coming to?

Los Gatos is a bit more than an hour, but not far. Yes I want it. Let me know how/when we can do an in person deal. Jacob 510-418-4911

I am probably the one missing something. Someone told me that Jim passed away not that long after retiring. I will edit that post.

Hey Markus, are you back? What is the state of your Skater?

Skater burnt a piston and got a window in the front half on the port engine on the first run of the season.

Mercury in Europe is out of 300XS powerheads. They will get a single powerhead in stock the day after tomorrow, and that one is already spoken for. More powerheads will arrive mid-August.

Scott Mander at Speed and Custom Marine might be able to help me out.

I could also go the rebuild route, but that requires lining up more different parts and more people. A powerhead swap should be better for my mental health...

I will arrive in 1 week from today. I think the road will be closed for resurfacing the following day. So from Friday next week onwards.

Check if you can use the fast transfer option on PayPal! Otherwise, you can simply drive down with a pile of cash.

Let me know if you need any additional 2.5 260 parts, and I will see what I have!

I will PM you.

Do you know if its big bearing or small bearing? I want it regardless, I just need to find the proper upper endcap for it. I got either crank.

Aren't the blocks the same and just the upper end cap different between the big and small bearing cranks?

If of help, I can see if I have any end caps.

I think you need a collar to run a small bearing crank in a big bearing case. The big bearing pressed on the top of the crank has a larger outside diameter then the small bearing cap that hold the bearing in the cap.

Yes, if you have an endcap that fits in the top of the block then I would appreciate you bringing that too. Yeah as RJ said the blocks were different up top. You can put an adapter to run a small bearing crank in a big bearing block, but you can't run a big bearing crank in a small bearing block unless you have a machine shop mill out the top.

I found 2 bottom caps, but no top cap.

Btw, I think I have only ever used small bearing cranks.

I have memories of installing bottom bearings on cranks, but no memories of installing top bearings...

Pretty sure, unless Ruck bored to top bearing area, it’s a small bearing block. If memory serves 260’s didn’t go big bearing until 95-96

Well then I got a crank with everything sitting here ready to go for this one. Perfect.
