I have twin 300xs motors and currently have smartcraft gauges to include the SC5000.
I am trying to add vessel view link. I have 2 junction boxes currently which are full.
First, how do both motors communicate between boxes? How would both junction boxes communicate to the vessel view link box? I'd like to do away with my SC5000 and my merc monitors and keep my SC1000 gauges and add everything to my simrad.
Anybody help me out?

There are many ways to go but this will allow multiples to be used with one screen

288 Sunny, Couple of questions;
1) are the 2 j boxes connected to one another? They should be. The motors communicate via the can-buss from Smartcraft. Some older engines and boats that were rigged early on like mine had their own SC1000 gauge for each engine and they were not connected together.
2) the boxes need to be linked or you can buy a larger connecting block with 8 ports. This would be the easiest solution. You would plug both engines into it. All existing Smartcraft gauges and the new vessel link.
Last thing you will need to verify if it does not work is that the engines have had the computers programmed for being port and stbd. In some cases were the motors were never hooked up together the are set up from the factory as Stbd.
Hopes this helps
