Seen many types upon disassembly..... Copper anti seize, moly anti seize, permatex aviation, permatex PTFE thread sealer, stuff I would guess is omc gel seal type stuff. Pros, cons of each. I, myself use lubrimatic marine corrosion control grease, but would appreciate input/experiences, good or bad with these or other products. Thanks!

With outboards, you should stay away from anything with metal mixed in like the copper anti-seize, it will only accelerate corrosion, especially in salt water environments. Perfect Seal or OMC Gasket Sealing Compound for gaskets, rubber housed seals and external bolts. Gel Seal for crankcase halves. Ptfe Sealer fore pipe threads. Merc 24C for steering cables. OMC Triple Guard grease for greases fittings and prop and driveshaft splines.

Seen numerous composes upon dismantling, copper hostile to seize, moly against seize, permatex flight, permatex PTFE string sealer, stuff I would figure is omc gel seal compose stuff, stars, cons of every, I, myself utilize lubrimatic marine erosion control oil, however would acknowledge input/encounters, great or awful with these or different items...

Old timer long time ago, got me using gaskacinch sealer on all my fasteners not requiring loc tite and such. Lower units and t-stat, powerhead bolts etc. exposed to salt water would come right out. His reasoning was the sealer kept any water from getting in the threads and causing corrosion. Gaskacinch it's self seem to fight corrosion. Been my go to and I run charters in the salt. And do my own motor work.

I've had my battles with clamp bracket to trim assembly bolts, thermostat bolts, head bolts, water jacket bolts, and quite a few others. Heard a third metal tossed into the mix ( copper based anti seize ) could cause more problems. Would hate to make more by using copper anti seize.
Heard anti seize ( even other than copper based ) on lower unit bolts could be bad. Potential for lower to come loose? Anybody have this happen?
Is OMC triple guard better than Lubrimatic's marine corrosion control, or just pricier?
Who, by the way makes Gaskacinch?
Thank you gentlemen, for your time and input. Much appreciated!

Just thinking, the times when i use it is in carbon masts on stick and rag jobs.
Some masts cost over 200k...

Tef gell is good stuff but what about a cool mascot?

“Slipping Girl” HistoryOur “Slipping Girl” mascot has been a long time favorite. She’s done in a classic pin-up style artwork that was popular with mechanics and WWII era military personnel. The original sketches, dating back to the early 50’s, included ice skates on her feet and an oil pan gasket in her left hand. The vintage 1950’s grand prix racer symbolizes our dedication to performance.

I get the 4 oz tubs, and load it into the little micro grease guns. The ones you press with your thumb. I used to just use it out of the tub but it was impossible to keep from getting contaminated with dirt and dust.
I also use permatex high temp thread sealant in a lot of thread applications.
Gonna look at that gaskacinch, never heard of it before.

Permatex aviation form a gasket works well too. Forgot to add, the gaskacinch is a belt dressing too.

Merc Xtreme grease has found it way into my box. If it doesn't require loc tight or a sealer its gets the grease. Have never had any issues getting something apart due to salt.

As to gasket makers, anyone tried Hylomar?
It was developed during WWII to make an American-designed jet engine not fall apart with British manufacturing precision.
Some people swear by it...
