Merc hub to OMC

I know the splines are deeper and it won't go on the OMC shaft all the way. I have heard of people drilling the splines....I think? Seems like it would be pretty rough on the drill.

Hey Forkin', right or wrong, I've done it before. Used a drill press with a 1" bit. Set the stop so it wouldn't go too deep. Ran it for 10 years without trouble (28 chopper on a 2.6XP).

Yeah itll work. but its a BITCH to drill the hub. Ad drill press means at least a 1/2hp model and at that itll probably stall. Then try to find a 1" drill bit (if you dont have a buddy with one its @ $50.)

ID have it re hubbed for your OMC. $50- $75 should do the trick.
Then you dont have to have double thick spacers and all that crap on there. looks kinda cheezy set up that way.

Take it to any prop shop
They will fix you right up
And that will be one time you will get out pretty cheap.
