While back, picked up a 1971 Mercury 115 short shaft for my MX-14 Checkmate, it was transported from Rhinelander, Wis. on the back of a Carlson Contender. The Contender sat up in the field for over a year and then the War Department announced it was time to head on down the long and dusty. I put it on ebay with a $200 starting bid, got a nibble, but I think he finally sobered up, so I still have a Contender. It used to be yellow but due to poor prep, the yellow came off, I have sanded the top down to original gell. Probably needs a transom. I had already put a jack plate on it, so I found a cheap 65 horse Merc and stuck it on the jack plate. Question is, I have a gallon of old, Corvette yellow lacquer or 3 quarts of Imron clear in a gallon can, do I clear it to keep the patina ( alla gas monkey) or squirt the yellow... watcha think??? You can still see the pictures ebay under Carlson Contender
