You can order some epoxy from Bob's... I'm sure there are some other brands out there that the S&F user's use...
Here's Bob's site:BOBS MACHINE (www.bobsmachine.com/)

Where is it loosing chunks? Check for a hair line crack where it attaches/blends to the gearcase. Seen 'em come loose.

If Bobs put it on, they will fix the problem for a certain amount of time, check with them to see

Seems to be the best.
Grind it all of and start over, or it will hassel you all summer!
You can have Bob send you a template to form the side with.
You can use the epoxy from Bob. Have him send you a double batch, one never seemed to be enough. Also ask him if there is anything you can use to thicken it up. Always seemed to runny. The west system works just as well, and you can mix to what ever thickness you want.
If you decide to grind it off, make sure it it filled in between the nose cone and the drive.
thx

Hey guys, here's a great source for epoxy and other boat-building materials. They're a bunch cheaper than West and just as good.

As long as it is not the epoxy that is holding the cone on, just the stuff that feathers the cone back into the lower unit, use long and strong. I struggled getting anything to stick and stay, one day tried Long and Strong (the bondo with fiberglass in it) ground the cone and the lowerunit and bodied it out with the long and strong and repainted, held up much longer than any epoxy ever did, just my .02

I went through the same problem a couple of months ago, so heres what I found out ( the hard way). I bought a boat with a Land n Sea cone that was falling off. I knocked it completely and spent a few hours with a MAPP torch melting and scraping the old epoxy and bondo off. The person who installed it originally should not have used automotive bondo to install it because it seems to absorb water when submerged. The bondo came off easy compared to the epoxy putty used to glue it on. Once I had it clean I sent it to a local welder and had him run three beads on each side. I told him it was imperative that it was straight. The advantage to having Bob's install a cone is that he uses an alignment jig. Welding: 20 bucks. I then sent away to bobs for the epoxy , only to have it run off the gearcase onto the garage floor. Bobs epoxy is not for fairing whatsoever! it is only for attaching the cone... I figured since bobs welds all their cones why would they sell adhesive epoxy ?! Live and learn I guess. After I cleaned up that disaster I called around and found out the best stuff to use is Duraglass or 3M premium marine filler. The fairing process takes some patience. I have about 50 bucks invested in the whole thing. In retrospect I should have sent it to Bobs but I am cheap. Hope this helps, Nat :D
