Started these 400r's motors yesterday, temps where lower 50's, and was surprise how much blue smoke came out of them. Went away in matter of seconds but little concerned with around 50 hours on them. Boat has set for 3 weeks. Is this common? My 300xs's never smoked that much.

Were they stored trimmed up?

Is it using oil?

They do use a little oil, maybe a quart over a season. Motors trimmed level. Temps where in 90's last time it was used.

I find that the verados like to be run often. I bought a boat with twin 300s. It had been sitting a while with the motors trimmed level, and on the initial startup for the seatrial, they smoked. Once I got the boat and started using it a lot, it never happened again.
New boat has triple 300 verados and I have put on about 200-300 hrs a year. 1200+ hours and they run perfectly
