Im putting together a 260 block and I believe it was you who mentioned using a 2.4 crank was possible but something was mentioned about a part that had to be pressed on to the crank because of a different size bearing or something. How do I get this part and is there anything I would need to do in order to use a 2.4 crank. Also what are the smallest cc heads I can use while running 93 octane through this engine. Thanks in advance, Steve

Steve ,
The ground down crank bearing area and pressed on timken case hardened sleeve with a .002" interference fit disscussed in other posts is just for a new style crank( Welded Heavy Metal top throw ) that the bearing I.D. fit has become loose and is allowing some turn at that point instead of the bearing being funtional and also will alow so much movement that the flywheel can and do get into the early model 36 model stator the new 66 is .030" smaller in the O.D. to allow clearence. The adapter number to run a early model crank to a late model block is one from a Champ motor is Mercury #

35CC's heads with the Merc thin head gaskets will render most stock ported and stock decked 260 to about 145 to 148 ish compression with fresh rebuild and good leakdown ( 2- 5 %)
Good luck......
