From our experience down here in the keys of getting hit square by a cat4 last year, ya’ll be careful - tie it all down, and get the hell out of its way.

Good luck. Thinking about you guys. :(

My sister lives in Wilmington NC. Directly in the path. I am begging her to leave with no luck. She say two cats and a dog makes it difficult to travel. WTF? They are now saying it might be a CAT 5 with 30" of rain. I would be gone.

It is not looking great for those in the path of Florence. Definitely not one to mess around with. Stay safe everyone

I live in Baton Rouge and due to work have stayed for everystorm since 2003, I would highly suggest evacuating anywhere near where thatstorm will hit. Pulling people out of tree smashed houses and floodedneighborhoods is not a fun scenario. You can ask anyone that has walked through4’ of water carrying what they could out of their house if they’d do it again. The answer will be hell no.
Board up windows, tie down or store everything you can andleave. It’s not worth staying.

I guess its serious if the shut down the walmart418061 2 days in advance. No sales of alcohol now even the ATMS are shut down. Mandatory evacuation goes into affect today only residents can get back across the bridges. Were riding it out like all the others since '96. Got plenty of supplies, plywoodwood for all the windows, a generator with 30gal of gas. This is the downside of living on the Outer Banks

Put important papers in trash bags and put in dishwasher put everything needed up high and be safe. Looks like they are not sure where it will hit directly. Just said 9-13 ft storm surge and up to 40 inches of rain. Put numbers of people in house and pets if riding it out on shutters or plywood good luck yea and ammo is nice to have again prayers and thoughts for all.

if you option the cloud tops and go to a longer cycle like 72 or more you see the variations over time. Deck top works best

Keep begging.

And tell that if she tries to fit two cats and a dog in her car, she will notice that there is room enough for her, too...

Probably not a smart move to stay but I pray you and your family will be ok. Keep a hatchet to escape the attic if water gets that high.
If you make it through this I promise you will never do it again.
Best of luck

Our prayers go to those in South Carolina. Looks like we dodged the bullet this time but then again who really knows. I appreciate the concern 22R. Luckily we're on a high lot, if the water gets that high all the OBX would be under water

Them Michels guys kick ass...they put our whole system back together down here after Irma. Initially they said six weeks for me to get power - them boys got my lights on in 15 days. AWESOME.

There is no reason to stay. There is nothing you have that is worth dying for and you aren't going to keep the water out. Go now and quit thinking about it. If anyone needs room, we have a few houses that I can put people up in and I have a couple spare bedrooms here at my personal house along with parking for a couple hundred boats "temporary parking". The A/C is on, price is right, and you won't go hungry-

If any of the low lying residents witnessed Jacksonville's mess last year then they will evacuate-I drove through there on my way home "after the power had been restored" and it was a real eye opener. When the wind is onshore, it won't allow the drainage to flow out and it piles up unbelievably fast. This storm is predicted to bring almost twice the rainfall.

Looks like the water is going to be the problem and the fact it is moving slow. Like Irma it was not so bad here until the tornado's hit us 6 touched down in our neighborhood. Be safe prayers and thoughts for all those impacted by this storm. Rick

Never had to worry about hurricanes here, but I just can't fathom trying to ride out a storm that will be bringing 10+ feet of storm surge and 40 inches of rain. You can't keep the water out. They had days of notice and I would have packed what I could and headed out of town!! What's the point of staying?

Imagine being stuck on a roof or in an attic for 12 hours to 2 days. Wtf!??

I spent 17yrs working with 3M in there Hurricane/Bomb Blast/Security mitigation division and went through countless Hurricanes with 0 issues....But Andrew ! I seen some things i could not wrap my head around.17' Box truck on the roof of a 2 story Uhaul facility, boats a mile inland, knife's and forks impaled in trees, cat's impaled in fences...i could go on for hours...It was a nightmare. So yea, there was some stuff a blowin in those winds !

This little guy is at 130 and still growing. His paws are about the same size as my hands. He has just recently started to become protective-a friend thought it would be a good idea to walk in the house last week and Kane turned him around and gave him a race back to the door. I have never loved a dog like I do this guy-
