Just picked up a bridgeport powerhead im going to put on my tunnel. What is the best way to wire the electric fuel pump? Make a separate harness with a fuse and switch to control the fuel pump or wire it off 12v power with the key in the on position?

I'd run it off the purple ignition wire with a relay.
That would be the best way. Have seen way too many wire it to a separate switch only to see it left on and kill battery.

I'd run it off the purple ignition wire with a relay.
If wiring a relay for the pump it would be essentially like the trim relay wiring correct? The 12v purple would be the control wire instead of the trim switch wire, the fuel pump would be hot with 12v power instead of the trim pump and the +/- wires would go to the battery?

Yup,the purple wire is hot when the key is on, but you should not use it to power the pump, just the relay. When you turn on the key it energizes the relay giving power to the pump. You probably should put a fuse or circuit breaker between the pump and battery.
