Who did your build? Can we see some pictures?
Here's the story. We were looking for a multi purpose boat for skiing, tubing, and other water sports and really wanted a 19' Jcraft. Bought this 2000 Jcraft 4 years ago that was supposed to be in great condition with a similar year Johnson 150 fastrike motor. We drove 4 or 5 hours to see and test drive the boat. I specifically asked the seller NOT to put the boat in the water until I got there to see the package on the trailer first. I wanted to check over the hull while it was dry and wanted to see the motor "cold" start. Guess what the guy already had put it in the water and was driving around in it. We took it for a drive and everything seemed ok. We pulled the boat out and I checked the compression and found a weak cylinder. We re-negotiated the price to allow me to redo the one cylinder.
Well I didn't like the thought of just fixing the one cylinder so I had the whole block rebuilt for long term reliability. I ran the Johnson for 1 season and just didn't like it. I traded it in for a freshly rebuilt 2003 175 efi merc. When we swapped motors we watched all the water ooze out of the transom as we tightened up the bolts. Only one word came out that started with "F"..... I had just purchased a waterlogged turd. Finished out the season and then put it into surgery. After 1 1/2 years working in my shop here was what transpired.
