I'll play: I like the cleavers on the STV's when runnin' a big gearcase. I've got 32 lab cleavers for both my boats, although one's got small unit on it now.

One more vote for the Cleaver. They work great on the light weight boats unless you need bow lift like on the long heavy boats. Don't seem to work as well on the Allison's.

The Mercury 14x30 Lab cleaver is my best running prop...I run it on a light weight Bullet bass boat.

Vector Mike, Can you email me a photo of the whale tail you made out of checkered stainless? I'm wanting to post it on another thread. Thanks, Jamie

Running around= a 28 14.5 Britt chopper

For long hauls= a 30 14.5 Mazco Cleaver 110mph plus

Gotta have a lot of lake for that!!!!

????

Cleavers are slower on my Hydrostream,

28 Ron Hill cleaver @ 7000 = 78 MPH

32 (don't know who) cleaver @ 6700 = 89 MPH

26 Trophy (4 blade) @ 7000 = 88.6 MPH

30 Merc inline chopper @ 6800 = 91.6 MPH

28 Merc inline chopper @ 7000 = 94.1 MPH

All GPS numbers.

Merc labs did good on a 25 motion. 26Hoss on the YT for drag,34 Hoss for speed.A standard cleaver dosn't work the well on a yt or v-bottom like a Hoss does. Will be running 15x30 Spinelli's on the Daytona.

RRRevinrude. How hard can you turn a 34 hoss.7800-8000?I love those wheels.:)

Great handling and decent acceleration and super efficient....

Never did like cleavers much on pad vee's....

Waterwings,
Cleavers don't work good on my Vector either. Best top end prop I have used so far is a 30" small ear chopper. 84mph at 6300rpm.

The cleaver design is for stern lift which a V bottom doesn't need thats why they are not the best on a V.A YT bottom has bowlift and sternlift and a cleaver tends to push the nose down and makes it loose feeling.A hoss on a YT is perfect although Ugene at REMCO Propeller ran a 32 cleaver he modified to take some of the stern lift out in the King of the Hill top end race at Crystal river 117mph with a 2.4 on n2o in the 80's on a Valero YT with out the windscreen.Guess it helps if your a propeller specialist. My friend turned a 32 hoss on the rev limiter/8000 and a 34 hoss 7800 and backed off in his 535# VK-YT.haulin butt.It seems like Props like Performance Propellers are a combo of the 2 styles and seem to work on both style boats.I think the cleaver remains the optimum wheel for Mod VP's and True tunnels.

There is not a faster prop on a light built (800 lb) Bullet boat...the cleaver runs REAL well. Most all the chopper props give too much bow lift...the Cleaver smokes!!!

I thought Jaco set the bass boat record with a Triton wheel.

Jaco was running a Allison not a Bullet...All records in the last 2 (1996 and 2002) record attempts were set with Mercury props.

Hmm.....I never thought my YT felt loose at all with the cleaver, takes a little more trim at first to get it flying but still runs at close to 0 trim. Maybe I'm just not fast enough yet:D . We'll have to wait and see on that one. I just really like the cleaver decent out of the hole, lots of punch, and damn near the same top speed.

a pair of 32 merc cleavers dose the trick on my 21 tunnel , but the 30s still go fast enough to scare me and give it a great launch also

i like to run a 26 spinelli cut up by who ever but it looks like a lighting but thats for a kick ass hole shot and mid range punch,a 28 chopper cut like a hoss, that work well for top end as well as a 31-32 for top end on a 2002 ski racer.
