Pretty cool I’ll bet there is a lot more left in it.

How many kilowatt hour battery?

Me thinks Tesla could do 150 if they cared to ...

The next break through in battery's will fold the cards on the internal combustion

Talking to client who's put 25,000 miles on a Tesla X in the last year , says he in love , Paid $104,000 got 32,000 back in tax credits , drives 25,000 every year ,

saving money , no gas , repairs , very simple concept. Regenerative brakes .

When I first heard that those l monster locomotives pulling 100 some cars used a electric traction motor , I gained a whole:cheers: new respect for electric motors,

Don’t forget that those locomotives also have big diesel engines making the juice to make those electric motors turn...

100% torque at zero RPM does make an electric motor a good choice for a locomotive. Far less troublesome than a mechanical transmission for that amount of load!

I`m a retired rail road engineer and my rout was in the hill country in Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma. The mountain we went over wasn`t that big (1600ft elevation) but pulling a 16 thousand ton coat train up that hill took loads of power. Those traction motors got pretty hot. Coming down the other side was interesting to. The traction motors were electrically turned into generators and grids on top burned up the power they made thus slowing down the train along with air brakes.

It's like a larger sized R/C boat ! lol

Pretty neat, but apparently they are still ten mph below this guy...

I would think they could go much faster as fast as The boats capable of atleast instant full range torque and hp from 0 to very high rpm much higher than a gas engine

I'm betting it would be faster if they used a Mod Vp style hull , such as a light weight STV . The true Tunnel Champ style hull doesn't work nearly as well in that mph range .

hate to be crossing the gulf stream in a nasty mess and run out of juice, fun out

I guess I don't understand what is so Gay.

They would have been better off in a v bottom, or perhaps like said above a stv. Second that was a sack full of drama and sound effects. Another couple guys are already quite a bit ahead of them.

86 mph in a full blown f1 boat is like going for a walk to the mail box.

The record they broke by 10 mph was set by a kneel down, 3 point hydro powered by a fork lift motor and cordless drill batteries

Kinda like the "Formula Zero" car racing class.
Each team has two cars.
The first one until the battery dies and the second one to finish the race in!
True story.
The guy behind this class is the one that backed this record.

Was at the drags in Fla one time and a guy was racing a 10 second Porsche 924 powered by an electric motor!
Followed him back to his pits to see how he charged the batteries??
Entire front half of his trailer was a giant battery charger powered by a 4 cylinder Pinto motor which ran entire time between rounds

Glad to see that someone finally found a use for at least parts of a Pinto.

I'm sure they used that boat for a reason. Like Low drag, handling, high speed capability for the future and safety. I still don't see how that's Gay.

He was on another website, hydroracer? Really neat project and without all the Jetsons sound effects

It was a really neat project! I had to go look it up:

Mike Bontoft out of Washington
Ron Jones Jr. outboard hydro (wood)
12 car batteries (144 volts, run to that class)
Prestolite 48 volt forklift motor
Average through the kilo 98.8 mph
Exited traps at over 104 mph.

All with UIM sanction, so I have to believe the absolute world speed record for an electric boat is 98.8 mph, ten mph faster than the Jag boat (And probably for less money than they spent on their video).
