So now that I've got all the foam pulled out of my boat and the jets figured out for the most part, it's running pretty good. I'm getting 58mph at 5750 rpm out of it. I wanna go faster now. So here's what I've done so far. It's a 1990 evinrude 120. I've port matched the block to the sleeves, cleaned all the casting marks out of the intake and crank case. I had the heads milled .040 ,ccm reads, and with a gutted air box it's running .078 high speed jets.
I wanna upgrade to the 140hp intake, and possibly big bore carbs. I can find the intakes all day long, but I need a line on a set of cabs.

It's on a 16ft 10 inch astro bass boat. It's only rated for a 135. Can't get away with putting a v6 on it.

Lol I promise u have more than enough bote for 150 , and you can still cruise and learn it b4 trying to pin it. Biggest adjustment for me is when I went from 150 to 200. That was a whole new ball game and needed seat time , you should really look into it or get few other opinions ,but it wouldn't b a question if it were mine , ur almost 17ft

What did you do with your steering? Mine is single cable rack.

Yes gotta put double in , don't have to but I would recommend, I will say ,I ran my 1st 150 with 1 cable for 2 summers b4 I learned enough that I probably shouldn't have been doin that lol. That's really all you need to do tho. You will love your boat again and be lot faster and fun to drive. Truth b told the 2.4 200 was lighter than the 2.0 150 I had , knowing your boat close 17ft I'd have have 200 on it:cheers::thumbsup:

Either go hydraulic or get a true dual cable helm. None of that “No Feedback” or 2 cables/1 rack junk they sell now...

You could sell your motor and the 150s bout dime a dozen now days ,and u can get u some steering and u will never look back ,that 150 2.0 can sure take a beating

What model Astro? These are more of a "ride" hull design and not known for speed..

Don't forget that Mercury and Mariner badged 135's are 2.0L V6's and lots of potential in those 6 small bores. I'm building one for a future project.....

Try to look up specs on the SST 100 engine. It's based on the 140 looper. You may be able to work on the tuner, timing, carb jets, deck the heads.

Stay away from the big bore carbs as you will not gain enough on a basically stock engine to warrant the jetting hassle and mid lean they have. SST 100 used mid bores.
