Hi all. Don't know if anyone saw my other post but just got my boat running again. While i was doing all the work of decided to rip off the oil injection cuz it kept giving me problems also. So it ran great and idled OK and wouldn't die. But it's gotta lean sneeze. I premixed at 50:1. What would cause this? The boat is fuel injected so no carb adjusted. Also it wasn't smoking like at all. And it used to smoke a lot with the oil injection. I used a quart and a half for 18 gallons. Any suggestions are appreciated

Just got running again?
Oil injection troubles?
compression?
timing on?
plugs look like?
all the simple stuff first.

Compression is 130-135 all cylinders. Oil injection has been removed and I'm premixing. Timing is good. Plugs are brand new. It never did this before when it used to run good. Immediately after I started premixing my gas it started doing it. Should I put some more oil in the gas? It has a brand new simons digital ecu so I don't believe it's the map sensor and no air leaks that I could find

You sure it's timed right? Still have a TPS?

I myself am not. I don't have a timing light so I took it to a shop and they never mentioned it was off. Cruising speed and wot it runs excellent. Only at idle is it doing it and yes tps is on. I have not messed with it since I've gotten the new ecu

So this all started after the oil injection was removed? Nothing else done?

That is correct. I got the block off kit and removed the pump, tank, warning module, all that stuff. My check valve on the vst is leaking. So I've got to get a plug for it. But I mixed it 50:1 and this started. I mean it is running great but Im just worried that it's running lean for some reason and I don't wanna torch the motor. Should I mix more oil in it?

You don't need more oil unless you turning 7k+. That motor have a knock sensor on the port head?

Yes

You need to do something with that knock sensor wire, never played with 225 or less motors so can't remember for sure. Think it needs to go to ground.
Someone will know or call Simon.

would you happen to know what color tbe wire is? The only wires I saw left was a blue one

Not off hand but that rings a bell. Don't go trying stuff until you hear from someone that knows for sure. My old memory could be wrong but you need to know for sure.

knock sensor is gray/white.. one comin' from tha harness it plugs into needs ta be grounded after tha knock sensor module is trashed.....
no reason ta mix more than 40 or 50 ta 1.

Go thru the full link n synch procedure with it, get your tps set correctly, base and full advance timing set, then set idle speed with throttle plate screw next to fuel pump. More often than not that'll take care of little problems like that. And it's good to know everything's where it needs to be before you start troubleshooting.

OK I didn't remove the detonation sensor on tbe motor cuz I didn't see the need to. So the timing and spark advance shouldn't be changed. Should I remove it? Other than the funky idle it's runs beautifully

up ta you.. don't see det. modules on hot rods!.. keep tha motor healthy with good tune, gas and oil so don't see a need for "extra parts" on plain 'ole play type boats to act stupid at their leisure..... jmo... big heavy "workin' boats", may come in handy.
