Hi all! I'm new to stv's, its my first one (2008RR). Just lookin for some pointers. I'm probably paranoid but the boat has a pretty good hop at around 80.. What do y'all do when you encounter this? I know I can stab it but wanna ask before I try to drive through it. Thanks all!!
Don't be scared;)
about best small performance boat ever made.
Set up set up .

Most all of them do it. Mine will 65-80mph. Best thing I’ve found is to kinda blast through that range and you’re good. Sometimes after going through it I can pull back to about 75 and it won’t hop. If I try to go through the 65-80 slow the hop can sometimes get worse and worse. Some guys will say you need to trim it up to get through the hop....I don’t think that’s true, I think trimming it just increases the speed to get you through it.
People have tried moving weight, different engine heights, setbacks, props, blah blah. Some boats don’t seem to do it....seems heavier do it less. It happens from the tunnels building air pressure, lifting the boat, then it escapes out the back and the hull falls. More speed - more air - more lift to support the boat. At least that’s how my small brain has figured it lol.

Yeah the boat feels way safer than my action did lol thanks guys yea just a matter of seat time.
try little more trim drive thru till around 85 /90 then start bringing trim down i have to do this with the twister or it just hops otherwise all good

Props effect it also m. Seat time is key And you start to feel what settles the boat on every boat I owned turning slightly made it go away.

Drive below it or above it. The quicker you drive through the range, the less you'll feel it. Under hard acceleration, you may never feel any hop. The heavier the boat or load (people, coolers, etc), the higher the speed until it happens as it takes more speed to generate enough lift to get the boat to pack air. Trimming down will usually make it slam the water and scrub speed. Trimming up slows the oscillation but can make it fly the bow a bit high until you're through "the hop."

Which engine U got? The more HP U got the less U will notice the hop. Back arounf 2000 I owned a Euro w/280 never felt the hop long enough to be concerned.

Got a fresh 280 so its got the power to get right through it. I know now that the hop is normal and what to do to get by it. Thanks all!
