Going from 135 to 175

I have mid 90’s 135 mercury and I’m going to new 175 pro xs. What else will I need to make it compatible, besides the motor?

Do I have to run the smart gauge on the new 175 Pro XS, or will the standard gauges work?

You probably don'r have to but it is a cheaper way to keep tabs on everything going on with the motor than trusting gauges that really don't tell you anything. I hung a 2012 150 Opti and had then add the Smartcraft gauge and happy I did.

I am talking any old 1971 boat that the only thing left from 1971 is the hull.

There is an interface so that you can use your old gauges.
Better to go smart craft
If you are using your old controls you will need an adaptor for the wiring loom.
Much better to go for a new control box set up now
It has the wiring for the smart craft gauges.
