225 optimax to 250

can a 225 optimax be upgraded to a 250 or more. What must be down? what Parts do i need?

I’m not an expert on Opti’s but from what I’ve read it’s not feasible. There are differences in port timing as well as different ecm cal, different fuel injectors, and possibly different fuel/air pressure specs between hp ratings. I think most had steel reeds but some of the higher ratings were carbon fiber. Unless you have a parts motor I doubt it would be worth even trying.

I don’t have a manual that covers the 250 but you could go look up the parts list for your motor and compare to the same year 250. Try somewhere like boats.net.

Your best bet for upgrades would be reeds from Chris Carson and maybe a tune. I say maybe because there are a few threads floating around here about problems with some of the tuners lately...
