Well didn't think I was still going to be around after having a stroke last 9/17 and looking to bet back into boating. Looking for something in the 21-23ft range with BBC. First choice is EFI, HO, or MAG engine. No projects or junk! I'm located in Western PA so closer the better.

thanks

Not a big block but, local friend has what we believe to be Checkmates first I/O, 24' Enforcer.

Ive seen it up close and is gorgeous!
Small block w/prob MCI drive.

55 mph boat as is and a true classic. Maybe the only vee prettier (lower profile) than their 25' Convincor.

Get your wits back about you......(), then convert it to Bravo/BBC and have fun.

Were some running mid 90's back in the day.

PS, welcome back old man!

I had a 23' Stingray for 10 years.

The Stingrays are laid up light, set up with a high x-dimesion, and have a hull design that makes them faster than comparable production boats (SeaRay, Chaparral, Four Winns) with the same power..and they get better MPG. The hull design handles well, but needs trim tabs to perform it's best.

Depending on which version of 502, that is a 65-70mph boat. Stingrays website has numerous performance bulletins and graphs, even on older models like the 230SX.

IMHO - The Stingrays look sportier and are faster than than comparable production boats, but the quality is at the lower end of that group (SeaRay, Chaparral, Four Winns)...although nothing ever broke on mine, just very minor (cosmetic) stress cracks in the gel around the windshield.

Engine sticker shows 4600-5000rpm and according to owner is 415hp. Does have tabs, could u elaborate more on the need and when?

Due to the high x-dimesion, and perhaps characteristics of the z-plane hull, http://www.stingrayboats.com/technology/zp_hull.php
the tabs primarily help getting up on plane. I'm not sure the Stingrays are any slower getting up on plane than a comparable production boat, just not as quick as the lightweight outboards I was used to, and I wanted to pop skiers out of the water. The tabs also allow you to run a little more positive trim at cruising speed (45 mph) without porpoising.

On a positive note they are quick for the breed and corner like they are on rails. Playing around with the boat on glassy days, I used to make hard s-turns and was never able to get the hull to slide out.

Here are a couple of bulletins on the 230SX.

The big blocks are hard to find in the Stingray's, so if If the boats in good shape and price is right, might be a good deal for the right buyer. I would buy one again if I was shopping for a boat in that category.
