Looks like they're restricting access to racers and excluding collectors. I guess that leaves me out. I'm still lookin' for a 44XS to hang on the wall.

Yeah, the tiny production numbers to statisfy collectors doesn't represent any decrease in cost, so the racers need to hold them back, sorry.

Lately it has taken about $4,000 to purchase a decent running 44xs. Looks like Merc probably could have made 100 more than they did at the time. Racing's problem with the 44xs is the nationwide spread of them, not enough of them stayed in one place to keep the class running consistantly in all or most areas.
