Looks more like a 4 hole CLE and it's a death trap.

Scrap! Without the most rearward bolt in the tailpiece you're asking for trouble

I agree. Its not mine. Its on a motor in another thread. Trying to figure out what motor and lower he has. Was really shocked when I seen it. It is the post asking for help with 225 merc started by Lauren.

Does any one know if they can successfully weld other half on off another unit?

You reach a point where "enough is enough". It's time for a new housing. Of course SOMEBODY will post here "I stitched 5 housings together and been running it 15 years at 135 mph...……."

There are several problems relating to welding the cav plate back on right there. You have the machined surface at the top of the unit, alignment of the bolt holes, also exhaust passing through that area. Aluminum is porous and the pores are full of soot/2 cycle oil.

It will take a very special welder to make that repair. Why? Anybody smart enough to be able to “do it right” will know that it shouldn’t be done at all!!!
