I am using an inductive type tach/hour meter made by Trailtech. I have one on the Yamaha and love it. Gives rpm, max rpm recall, hours, time, etc.
I put one on the Promax and its been a real nightmare. Turns out the Champion spark plug is a different kind of supression than the R type NGK for instance. The RF noise is screwing with the tach.
It looks like I have to use at least one NGK plug to read off. I've been reading and lots of people say the NGK style resistor plug doesn't work well with CDI style electronics. I have an early style Promax with the separate ignition and fuel ECM's.
Any input appreciated. I already have this thing mounted in my dash. Would suck for it to end up an expensive clock. Don't really have room for a regular tach.
