....and anyone who was at the Syndicate End of Summer Blowout can attest, there is plenty of juice there. I ran my stereo (500 watts or so) for about 5 hours, then jumped off another vehicle that only hung in there for about an hour, without even cranking it up , I did turn the stereo down so I could hear him cranking it though. :D

Optima's are good batteries. The only bad thing that I have ever heard about them is from my father, Who's voltage regulator went out in his truck and fried the battery real good. He said it stunk real bad. Other than that the one we have in our boat seems to hold a charge forever. We didn't have to put the charger on it to fire up the boat this spring. plenty of power in them. And you can mount them upside down if you wanted too.

Rocket,
When I was putting my Quarter Master together, several of my
knowledgeable friends said it would take 2 batteries to run all the
systems (2 stage N20, 3 fuel pumps, trim pump, starter, ignition,
EFI). I thought it would too, until I did some research on batteries.
One my sponsors, TN Speedsports, sells Optimas to car racers all
the time, and to these rice rocket thumpa-thumpa kids with the
annoying 10,000 watt stereos, and they said one Optima would/
should do it.
Believe it or not, I'm running ALL the above with one little lightweight bluetop. I saved weight by using just the one Optima.
Then I put 2 yellow tops in my Baja. That little battery starts my
supercharged 468" Chevy like it's nothing.
Since you probably are talking about an outboard application, I
would get the bluetop.
Regards,
Steve

I've got 2 blue tops in the Flamer. One 's deep cycle to help run my 600 watt stereo. No problems yet!

I have a blue top ( deep cycle) in my boat , a red top in my Bronco and a blue top in my jeep. Now , I know you prabably are thinking , why does this idiot have a deep cycle in a car? Against what the manufacturer said it is because I run an abundance of electronics when the truck is off. Stereo, inverter, charger, etc. ..
I have never had a single problem. been in there for two years. great batts....Mount them any way you want

Good to say about them, NEVER had cranking as fast as that battery would do on the v6.
It was in the boat all winter and didn't care.
Can't go wrong, the only bad part about them is they ARE heavy.
Had to move mine over to the port side to compensate for the weight difference in the Vector.

Thanks! I found them for $139.00 and NO Shipping! I run 24 volt up trim, The Optima guys said that it was not recomended to cross them with other batterys (wonder why?) They said the only differance between Blue and Yellow was the Blue has two types of conections!

Thanks again, I'm getting me one ASAP!;)

Hi !
Got two red ones in my boat, The only ones I see in offshore boats ,they can stand a lot of beating and have high starting amps. maybe I will trow one out when I have saved enough money for a alternator kit from Simonmotorsport...

espen,
as you can see on my other post, I need the juice to get her started.

The red one's just don't deep cycle I guess.

What do you mean, difference in connections? What kind of differences? Is the cost the same?

I believe he was refering to the blue top having the normal car type lead posts plus having the bolts fer attaching ring connectors to it as well.

that being said, I run three Optimas in my Allison, one fer the starter and two fer the troller, when I have it mounted fer fishing.

No probs yet.
