Looking to install a water temperature gauge to monitor engine temperature.
anyone have any suggestions on brand to get? I would like something reasonably priced and reliable. Also, where on the engine can I install the sending unit?

any input will be greatly appreciated- thanks

If you're wanting to install a water temp sender, you will need to drill and tap with 1/8 NPT in the flat spot of head just behind thermostat. Make sure you're far enough back to not hit the thermostat. I use auto meter gauges and senders.
