When doing a voltage sweep of the tps on a 300x with the engine running is it normal for the engine to revup on it's own?

the voltage of the TPS is the only way the motor knows where the throttle is at and therefore how much fuel to add or take away...So yes ANY FLUCTUATION IN voltage will cause the engines rpm to increase or decrease....

My rpms gradually increase as I increase the voltage but then when I reach a certain point the rpms increase 2k or more?

is this in water in gear or just freereving?

If it is a opti the tps will call for more air and fuel through the compressor dfi system befor the throttle plate opens and map sensor speed density starts to control a/f
why it jumps rpm my be in the performance profile as load normally goes up about 1500-2500 (tel:1500-2500) when you start to climb on plane.
It’s why troll control works on some but not ski tow. The pcm (propulsion control module) can adjust timing. Dfi and fuel injectors to bring rpm up, ski tow takes the electric throttle.
you will get the same reading with key on engine off. And doing a key off ohms sweep will catch dead spots better. Unless you after a vibration condition.
