Boyesen reed question??

I got my new B-267 (7 petal dual stage) reeds from Brent Gill (Thanks Brent!!! Great deal) and the instructions indicate downsizing the idle air jets 2 sizes (4 thousandths) to prevent sneezing........which may damage the reeds......I have pumper carbs but the pumps are disconnected, I bought the motor that way.

Not that I'm second guessing the instructions but........
does this sound right to you guys?

Any need to go bigger on the mains at all?

Also, my stock metal 7 petal reeds had no reedstops on them at all, and the instructions indicate there should be? Am I lucky not to have ingested a reed? Thanks guys.......

B-Mac , Follow the directions on the jets (idle ) and no - on the high speeds and yes you are a lucky man on the no reed stops on metal reeds.

I thougth the front crank case casting was in effect the reed stop, Merc seems to have stoped using them ? I thougth they were better bending without them:confused:

Sometimes the idle circuit works just fine. Run 'em first and see.
