Anyone know any secrets for replacement OEM quality leather seat skins???
Ive got a '97 GMC Sliverado thats clean as a pin other than the leather seats.
Keep thinking new/used truck but told the wife w/new seat covers Id love/keep it.
Problem is for OEM quality I keep coming up with $1000 for just the two buckets!
Id go $500, which I thought I could do but at that price theyre are less pieces per skin and they look cheap.
Had a good upholstery guy (until we moved) but could never get a price out of him.
Am I missing anything?
Thanks guys.

I did the driver seat in my 2002 tahoe, Leather heated seat, just like factory. Got them at The Seat Shop. They have lots of DIY videos for each seat. Give them a look. I was very very happy with them, couldnt tell it from the factory original.

Very nice. Thx.
Found a local shop that can repair what I have too. Only viewed their website but show some very nice stuff.
Mine is an extended cab and rear seat has lost a lot of dye and they redo that too.
In viewing their site reminded me of talking to my guy too.
He thought he could just replace some panels and reuse the rest.
Either way, the inside would look as good as exterior and Id like it way more.
Mine has aftermarket covers on them now and have to pull them off tomorrow to remind myself how bad they are.
Might be able to get away w/doing just one or even just the base.

I peeled the aftermarket cover off drivers side and its toast.
Keep coming up with $1000 - $1200 to do both and hard to swallow for a $5 - $6k truck.
Is perfect other than that though.
Guess it's still cheaper than another truck.
$10 - $15k for what I'd want.
I did have a look at a Z71 that had Kat and it was exact fit. I think you can choose piping and stitch as well as inserts.

I think Katzkin https://katzkin.com is via installers only. Used a lot by dealers to upgrade new vehicles. Or semi custom places to save the labor on making patterns and sewing.
A DIY option is https://www.leatherseats.com. I've seen some that looked very good but have not used them yet.

Killer Barry!
Katzkin does say dealers only and only lists Toyota and Ford.
Assuming their price is for two seats at leatherseats.com as it shows in their pix's, $599 is a steal!
Ill call to confirm this and discuss installation and if good, Ill order them.
Thank you sir. I'm geeked to fix up ole reliable.
230,000 miles, runs like a top, pulled my 21' Starliner 6 hrs at 80 mph through the hills, stopped for a 1/2 hr, swapped boats to my 25' Convincor and pulled it home, 7 hrs at 75 w/o missing a beat!
One owner truck I bought in Fla and brought up here w/me after painting it and making it pretty again.
The truck owes me nothing.

Called leatherseats.com today.
$599 for both seats! Tops are leather and sides are vinyl that looks like leather.
$50 extra for 2nd color inserts.
Asked him how I pick color and order. He said, tell me what you think and we send you samples before taking your order!
Theyre on the way.
I think my Passat wagon has a set.
Did a similar thing last summer. I found original pattern/grain and pipe NOS and then restitched the front seats. Two companies, one in MI the other Oregon carry miles of NOS for an amazing variety of older back to 50s and beyond. Same thing, send a sample and confirm.
Originalauto and SMS:thumbsup:

Instigator I have Recaro's in my 95 K1500. I got them off Ebay, factory seats out of a VW.
I'm taking them out and putting the factory seats back in. The reason for going back to stock seats is, for some reason the Recaro's seem to be aggravation my bad knee, so back to stock seats.
If your interested in them let me know. They are grey cloth seats. I made some adapters out of some 3/16" thick flat iron and put them on the factory seat brackets.

Replacement upholstery is cheap on ebay and easy to do yourself. I just did both front seat bottoms in my 98 Suburban. I cheaped out and went vinyl instead of leather but it looks good! Both seat bottoms were less than $200 I think. Leather is available but a little more money!
PM me a cell # and I’ll trxt you a pic...

Been watching e-bay for months.
Has been a grand for leather in both seats until I ordered mine and an ad popped for the same money.
Was still $600 which is what I paid.

They’re easy to install, just need a few hog rings and pliers. 1A auto I think has a good video on youtube about the install. I skipped the part about steaming the foam. Still came out OK. Took maybe 2-3 hrs total to do both front bottoms.
Duck tape then spray paint your color...DONE;)
Now on a serious note , how is your Buddy doing.
