So my old trusty 98 Grand Cherokee 4.0L has been running a little warmer than normal as of late, I figure- 200k and almost 21 years of service and me mainly doing nothing but turning the key and fueling it - It doesn't owe me much ;)
I knew the radiator had a leak , being a plastic tank and nasty coolant- a new radiator was in order at min. but I figured at this mileage , it owes me nothing, why not go ahead and do the hoses/tstat/ and waterpump while I had it apart- they where original and I figured overdue. I have driven a commercial take home van for 8+ years , so the Jeep just fills the gaps for short errands and gets neglected so it was time to be nice to the one and only brand new car I will ever drive off a lot.
At any rate, thought you guys might get a laugh out of the w/pump - It paid for itself once or twice

Looks like you been topping the radiator off with water from the bay.

Those 4.0's are indestructible , im not surprised it ran without a water pump they barely need oil to run lol

That's one of those low drag impellers, yeah, it increases MPG.:leaving:

Just bend the thing a little like a prop and reinstall. Good for another 100 thou.

Poor old girl is rode hard and put away wet and keeps on kicking -
Towed a 21 Outrage 2 days off the lot- its had a hard life from day one - 21 years later this year, been a good truck.

I second XstreamVking's idea...can't kill an inline

Had a big block come in with an overheat, drove me bonkers. Someone had put in a brand new circ pump....was the last thing I checked before shooting it......................

That'll get ya every time.
Reminds me of one time I was starting my hitch, 7 days on/7 days off. Compressor had low oil pressure, Arieal JGK-4 frame. Mech. on other hitch said he had changed oil filters and checked the removable pump screen and it was clean. I took the top plate off the frame, checked main bearings, checked rod bearings, checked oil pump chain for slippage. Then after all that I rechecked the oil pump screen/oil strainer, it was clogged.
