I have 95 viper 20’9” bass. Max hp. 200. Recently repowered with a DF 200 Suzuki. I has a 2:50:1 gear ratio. I have been through a couple of props and landed for now on a 29 tempest with some help from a prop guy. Problem- if I’m trimmed all the way down the hole shot is good and at wot I am running 5000 rpm I can trim the motor some and it will start to raise the nose of the boat but I quickly hit 6000 plus rpms and the nose of the boat never comes all the way up like it should. Second the lower unit has a ton of drag. It’s big and blunt. I am not sure I have the right prop... help! Wot at 6000 empire running 58.

I had a 29" tempest once and it was awful on my boat. It is NOT like a 27 tempest with 2 more inches of pitch. I had much better luck with a 29 Yamaha t1 for maximum bow lift or a txp 3 blade for a little less bow lift. Another one you could consider is the promax.

The suzuki lowers like to run a little lower. They lose bite up high. The fix I guess would be LWP. But the problem is gearing will limit you in terms of speed and then a nose cone might actually slow you down. Try dropping the motor down first

If the tempest doesnt work out for you i will trade you for a 28 bravo 1. Plenty of bow lift. Is your motor 2 or 4 stroke?
