V6 Merc 2.5 200 Carb. The 6 wire was snipped into & the bands are gone. There all the same Color. Which 3 go to the front switch box & 3 to the back ??

First thing that comes to mind is just connect them to the switch boxes with purple up top, white in the middle en brown on the lower terminal. Then indicate TDC of each cylinder on the flywheel, ground your plug wires and use a timing light to differentiate for each color whether they are connected right (between 1&2, 3&4, 5&6) or need to be switched around.

I'm not sure if this will help, but, I just looked at the trigger we took off our 91 200. The wires that should have the yellow band are slightly longer than the ones that have the black band :-)

on all older merc,s with dual switch boxes CDI makes primary wire kits. I would order them for reliability. if not install wires from cyl. 1,3,&5 on 1 switch box. & wires to 2,4,&6 on other switch box. trigger wires only are 3 colors, just 1 of each color to each switch box. if you have doubt about trigger buy a new one. they,re cheap compared to other parts. example $90.00 for 14 inch long hose & 2 otiker clamps for hose between air comp. & fuel rails, on opti.

I would not even mess with it, buy a new one.
