I have a 93 175 horsepower carbureted model, I found a good deal on a bad power head and a full xri fuel injection system off of 175 horsepower 1993 xri is it as simple as just bolting the fuel injection over on to the carbureted motor

If both are 2.5's the xri efi is a perty ease swap. But the doner efi is coming off of a blown powerhead so get the injectors, ecm and wiring checked first or you may end up with 2 bad powerheads.

I will probably hear crap, for saying this. but don,t replace carbs. with EFI. you will only gain maybe 2 mph, & have much more expense involved. you can get more bang for the buck, by removing oil inj. & timing box. plane heads .020 or .025, run pump premium gas install boyesens, & open exh. in dr. shaft hsg. it will out run a 200 hp.

I hear you on all of that but my issue is these carbs are kind of jacked up right now and out of sync and I can buy this EFI set up substantially cheaper than I can have someone sync them and go through them

I am sorry. I am always worried about used efi systems. good luck with swap.

BILLYBOB- I am with you completely- the simplicity of the carb - they will not strand on 4th july weekend-

Fordman- you can buy a set of carbs for $200-400 - super simple to "build" - "YOU CAN DO IT" !! - you can not with efi..........

I have an EFI 150 2007 on my lake boat (boat/motor -new to me- I bought for hull- motor was already on there) I have a very nice 150 2004 CARB motor in the garage because I know the carb unit won't strand me when the efi goes down-

and as noted by Badbattery- something- in most likely the fuel system- blew the donor motor- this is not "rinse and repeat"

Umm..huh? Not sure what your paying for the efi, but an ecu check plus injector cleaning is going to be at least 300..I usually can go through a set of v6 carbs and the fuel pump for that easy unless they are a saltwater mess.

Oh..well then you stole it. Last time I got one of those deals it was free, and cost 900 to correct everything. But that's my luck.

Even at 50 bucks, by the time you spend the money finding out why it was that cheap, you could pick up a set of carbs and rebuild them. I promise you that will be cheaper in both the short term and long run.
