I know there are several former OMC and Mercury engineers on this board, so maybe they can help me on this

In 1964 OMC made a 90hp, 89.5 cu. in. @4500rpm. They increased the HP in 1966 to 100hp, same displacement but @ 5000rpm. In 1968 they had for one year an 85hp, same displacement, and @5000 rpm. In 1969 they made an 85hp with 92.6 cu in @5000 rpm, in 71 they added a 100 using the 92.6 block also @5000 rpm. so,

90hp @4500 89.5 in. 4bbl carb WOT range 4000 - 5000
100hp @5000 89.5 in. 4bbl carb WOT range 4500 - 5500
85hp @ 5000 89.5 in. 2bbl carb WOT range 4500 - 5500
85hp @ 5000 92.6 in. 2 2bbl carb WOT range 4500 - 5500
100hp @ 5000 92.6 in. 2 2bbl carb WOT Range 4500 - 5500

Later in 78
85hp @ 5000 99.6 in. 2 2bbl carb WOT 4500 - 5500
100hp @ 5000 99.6 in. 2 2bbl carb WOT 4500 - 5500

Meanwhile at Mercury
85hp @? 66.6 in 2 carb WOT range 4800 - 5300

My question(s) is; Was the 69+ 85hp more powerful(as in more HP, not just torque) than the pre 1969 85hp, 90hp, and 100hp?
Was the 1968 85hp more powerful than the 1964 -65 90hp? same displacement, higher rpm rating
And also, were the 1978 - 80 engines more powerful than the earlier ones?
All engines crank rated.

Yes
