View Full Version : Lifting ring size / threads per inch?

I bought a lifting ring 1 1/2 inch X 16 TPI. I could only get it about 3/4 turn into a 2002 200XS without using a lot of force. From everything I've been able to read this is the correct size for the engine. The tool has a black oxide finish to stop corrosion and rust. Wondering if the finish is making it tight or if the thread pitch/size is wrong. Maybe Standard vs Metric?

Any advice is appreciated. Don't want to mangle the threads in the flywheel.

1 1/2 inch 16 TPI is correct size. Check threads with thread pitch gauge.

Thanks. I don't have a gauge but can take it to a fastener shop by my office tomorrow. Guess the black oxide is making it tight. It was an ebay deal but the seller had tons of good feedback. Claims it's made in the USA etc.

Threads on the engine look good. It was just shipped to me so assuming the seller had recently used a lifting ring in order to move and crate it. I even used some grease in the threads. Motor is fresh water only with no rust. I'll check the threads on the ring with a gauge.
