pulled a new block out of the box which was merc tagged 884-9763t61 dated 2000. its a steel liner 5 petal front. measured the ports and found tapered transfers side to side , which were 2.240 (ex side) to 2.160 (boost port side). exhaust is 1.550 / 1.600.
is this normal fishing block specs, or is this a special grind? thanks

The only way I’d build a Cleveland today would be for a numbers matching resto.

Windsor all the way for anything else.

Interesting. I'm a Chevrolet guy myself, But back in the late seventies I had a 71 Ranchero with a 351 Cleveland and all the Ford guys were falling all over themselves to try and get that engine

The Cleveland heads had bigger valves and ports more like a big block head compared to two the Windsor heads back then.

Now there are tons of much much better flowing aftermarket heads for the Windsor. And it’s lighter, etc etc

just an all around better motor design.
