I have found the size of fuel lines I need just need to work out what is best or atleast a good type of fuel hose to use.
this will be for 2 stroke pre-mix ...
I got told about tygon being good, but after reading a few places I am a bit put off about it swelling and being very soft and easy to puncture !!!
or is there a certain type of tygon that I am not seeing ?
I would prefer to go don the coloured fuel line route of either blue , Red , Yellow or orange ..
All fuel lines under the cover will be replaced and want something that will last atleast a couple of seasons and not go all stupid if I use ethanol
at 10% etc .
I am fed up with the omc type pipe as that seems to rot on the inside and send crap to the carbs, but saying that its pretty old stuff now.
any thoughts on this

Ive been using this with great success. No deterioration or dry rotting so far. Looks good also.

is that blue stuff like a silicone hose finish or dull finish ? and I notice it says you have to use certain end fittings ? can this be used as just a push fit or does it swell ?

Kinda dull finish, it uses push lock fittings. You push them on the fitting and it will not come back off, fittings act like a barb. You can put it on a regular fitting with regular clamp under low pressure. The hoses do not stretch much at all, so fitting diameter has to be real close to I.D. of hose to get it on. It is for use on higher pressures and all types of racing fuels. It holds up great to low pressure gasoline/ethanol.

that sounds good then..
will have to see what the price and postage will be or see if I can get same stuff over here .

Yep....push lok or twist lok is the only way to go. Tough stuff. Alcohol rated so ethanol won’t hurt it. I’ve run it for years. Even had an engine fire and the hoses survived where the tygon didn’t.

Question? why couldn't you use automotive fuel injection rubber hose, they been using it for years in the automotive industry without any issues.....Just a question...

on my carbs its just a straight out pipe, no threaded end etc, so I would just be using simple hose clips. would this be ok with this pipe.
I am not seeing how I could put any fittings on my carbs other than just push it on and clamp it as per normal stuff.
same with the plastic fuel manifold as in the picture below

sorry just noticed Forbesauto already said about this
bad bit is that I need 3/16ths and 5/16ths hose...

genuine omc hose cut from the roll, works for millions of outboards all over the world

No the omc fuel hose is not standing up to todays fuel at all.. its falling apart on the inside. little bits going into carbs etc.

After replacing the fuel lines, do you need to prime/ bleed the system? Or is the fuel pump just going to take care of that?

fuel pump sends it straight through, only pump the rubber fuel bulb as per normal, you will hear it going into the carbs, then bulb will go hard .

Tygon is so soft and easy to work with and being clear is nice for diagnosing air leaks and such. It's obviously not nearly as durable as proper fuel hose... My question. IF you did use Tygon for inside the cowl fuel lines, how long could we expect it to last? 10 hours? 100 hours? Something in between? I'm tempted to try it on one of my motors just to see.

You can, but sometimes its tricky. You need to make a clean cut. There is usually a white liner in it. If you try to stretch it over a larger barb, the liner will roll backwards into the fuel flow passage. Its for high pressure so if it says its for 3/16" it don't really like to go on 1/4". If your always removing and installing the same hose, the liner gets loose at the very end. Its fantastic stuff, but as far as for me. Its not the greatest for a lot of removals. I pull hoses all the time, if it were a once a year hose pulling job, Id probably buy it. But not with my stuff.

What pressure do carbureted fuel hoses run at? 4-5 psi?
