Looking to do a little preventive maintenance this winter on my 08' 250xs w/415 hours and had a few questions.

1. Any recommendations on who to use to have my air/fuel injectors checked and cleaned? I need a little input on how to send out the injectors. Do I send out the whole assembly or just the injectors? Will I get all the necessary info and parts to re install? I have been reading thru the service manual and it talks about an installation tool for possibly new O rings and or new Teflon seals.

2. Thermostats. Thinking of changing or just inspecting and cleaning? I run in salt 100% but flush regularly. I'm constantly in the flats pushing my luck and usually good for one or two groundings a year.

3. Increase in compression? I did a compression test last June at 310 hours and had 120-125 across all cylinders. Compression test this winter at 415 hours and got 130-140 across all six using the same gauge and both times the motor warm. I was reading up a bit on carbon build up and was wondering if this is causing my increase in compression. I've been running 93 octane all season and just recently read that running higher octane than the motor requires can cause carbon buildup? While I'm at it should I remove the cylinder heads and inspect?

The last compression test all six spark plugs had black soot on them and the last few boat rides the idle was a tad rough. Otherwise plenty of power and running fine.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome. I'm new to the outboard scene and I've got plenty of questions. Thanks.

Brucato for the injectors, make sure both banks reach operating temp, they do soot up at idle when the injectors get drippy or the air injectors fail.

Bouyhead sense you live in Long Island send them to Fullers marine and machine in Bayville NJ. George has the most state of the air and fuel Injector Machine and knowledgeble staff. Plus I dont believe Brucato can do the Air injectors. Plus Linda isnt doing them like years back. Someone else owns the Injector service now. Fullers Marine & Machine 96 Route 9

Thanks for the replies, looks like Fullers might be a better bet. I replaced my compressor last June and definitely want the air injectors cleaned.
