Wanting to rig 2x head temp gauges

G'day everyone, I've had a very reliable run with my old 2.4 Laser in my ski-boat so I figure I should do the responsible thing and rig some gauges so I can actually keep an eye on her properly!... I'll get a new set of Teleflex gauges and I'm just unsure of how to rig the temp gauges. I understand it's not a bad idea to have a temp sensor for each head (do it once do it right y'know!) - just not sure whether I should be monitoring water temp (tapping hole into heads) or fitting temp sensors into the factory plugs/holes in each head... which is preferred, and which sender units should I be using?

Whichever floats your boat. I prefer just behind the thermostats.

If you want to run 2 head temps I would tap for water temp that way you can still run the head sensor for the alarm. Just in case it gets hot and you not watching the gauges.

I clicked the first gauge listed and hit "accessories" and they list these senders (10-18mm):

You have to use there gauge with the right sensor. What I posted was just a example.
That first gauge is what I am getting for my boat.

I see! 2 gauges in the one is a tidy/simple way of doing it for sure. I'm looking to use the sierra gauges I've bought though (finally doing a nice gauge set and stainless gauge panel to make it all look swanky)

One water temp will be all you need in the head at the top behind the thermostat outlet.
Then one of this gauge for the cylinder temps.
That is only two gauges needed.

I did wonder if 2 water temp gauges might be a little overkill, but they're ordered now... Will investigate those little temp probes though, would be cool to see if I can run them with the sierra gauges to show head temp without having to drill into the head, J type thermocouple has been mentioned for both I think, would be interested to see if the resistances are similar/compatible

yes thy are J thermocouple remember a coupler makes voltage not resistance thy will not work with the water temp gauge.

ahaa! Roger that, at least I learnt something today!
