I went from 13" to 12" (I can always add a 2"-4" spacer)
but I'll need new cables (too short)
This one allows me to jack to the moon for when I pad the boat and add a LWP & chopper......and I'm not worried about it breaking due to misapplication
(extra 5" solid SB attatched to 8" lift)
No automatic lift but I'm only after one thing anyway......
BL's tunnel:D

You gotta get through mod-V4 embarrassment 101 taught by Devon first :D And he sounds like a "Who's yo Daddy" kind of guy and loving it :D

BMAC, you really don't want to put a LWPU on that motor. It will KILL your bow lift, especially on a 21' boat. Besides, you should be able to run a chopper plenty high enough with the top two holes plugged. I only wish that mine did NOT have a nosecone. With that heavy-assed boat, you would probably be faster running a Tempest or a modified Trophy anyway. Why do you want to run a chopper? I know they kick up a nicer rooster tail, but...

I'm not changing the LU until after the winter. I intend to build a 14" to 16" wide pad and run a surfacing prop almost even with the pad. If I can get the hull running up on top of this new pad at speed, and the LU out of the water, I believe this hull is capable of 80 MPH with my present Frakenmerc 200+?
I know it won't run with a nose cone the way it is........
But as time moves forward my GPS must move upward!!!
Thanks

Known fact:
A nosecone on ANY heavy long hull capable of less than 80 will hurt bow lift. For something like your 'mate, a prop like the Tempest Plus you're running now at 1"-3" below the pad should give better bow lift bite than a chopper dead even with the pad.
Every hull is different, but on mine, when I run my chopper, it runs great at 1"-2" below the pad. When I raise it higher, the slip is greater (more rpm, but same speed), and the motor starts to crab a bit.
You're going to regret losing that inch of setback.
the pad is a great idea, but you should leave your lower stock and plug the top two inlet holes on each side. You will be able to run 1" or 2" below and still get water pressure. At least see if you can try a lower unit with a LWP before you trash your good one.
Like I said, take it one step at a time. Change one factor, test it out, try something else, test it, etc. Build that pad and then see how she runs.
