what's left of very, very early 245/260.. no pictures of front/sides... probably bottom guided stuff... like capt says, ya saved tha anchor rope.

That bad hole is gonna take a flanged sleeve to repair it but that's not a big deal. I would rebuild the whole thing so it would be fresh.

Its a 96 carbed 260 I think. It has an OK mid with one of those weld on boxes to make it look like an offshore ...and a sportsmaster lower .....and I needed a cowl anyways sold mine...when I got my boat the old 2.4 had an alien cowl.... I liked it a lot but it didn't look period Correct my boat is a 91 so I kind of want a cowl that would have came on it new...1200 is what he was asking for the 2.5 and parts ...I did some trading and got a hydro jack plate with it too so I think I did good

I know a lot of people would have probably had the alien cowl but I like these older style a lot better...... do you guys know which one has more room inside old type like this one I just got or the alien ? .....and I used the anchor rope to get the power head off the mid ...kinda shade tree but it worked lol.....this was a strong Merc I had it before and sold the boat to a friend ..he ran the jack plate way to high and it flew apart the year after I sold it to him ...it was running 78 mph on a big heavy mod vee boat I'll post a pic later of the boat

I think you did good there . If the gearcase is decent you got the rest for nothing . Did the crankcase get windowed from all the shrapnel that had be flying ! I'm slowly getting to like the alien cowl on newer boats but hard to beat the look of the 2.4 and 2.5 HP cowls imo .

Let's see how wrong I was on the year and horsepower this year old number is 0D181413 ..... I may be wrong but unlike my other Merc that was put together from about 10 blown motors .I think all the parts on this one came together from the start391290

WOW! Is that a GMT? It`s seen better days. In answer to your question there is more room under an alian cowl. They came with an alternator that won`t fit under a 260 cowl.
