I've just brought this 21 inch dewald cleaver prop, to use for the bridge to bridge race here in New Zealand. Going on a tohatsu race prepped 50hp motor and Aquarius thundercat hull. Hoping I can get it going close to 100kph
I know nothing of dewald props, this one has an extended barrel added to it. There's limited info on dewald props and I'm not sure why you would add the extended barrel to it. Can anyone shed some light??
The prop has engraved in it "TH 109 dewald"
Cheers!

extended barrel is for heavy transom, it gives transom lift.
what is the gear ratio of the tohatsu 50 your running.

Running standard ratio gearbox mate, 1.85/1 flywheel/propshaft. Do you reckon it might be a bit of a big ask of a 50hp to swing a prop like that?

I would think the 50 should have all the stones to spin that 21p as you must have the prop shaft just about at water level or a tad lower. My 25 yammy spins a 15 worked to 16p chopper with no problems over 6k rpm with shaft at water level. My prop has the longer hub also.... not quite as long as yours.

Thanks Gary, Prop shaft is level with the water or near abouts when the boat is set up for a cleaver. it's making sure the motor is drinking enough is my main concern around that. LWP are banned from competition use for thundercat series in NZ.

Lowbox Do you have water deverters (small scoops) on LU(gear box) behind the water intakes to catch the water?

No I don't but that's something I'll have to look into doing, are you running these on your set up?

The shape of my LU must cause enough spray against the intake ports to feed me plenty of water. Be aware my rig(SLT) is only 11ft long with 25hp that only does 42-44 mph as speed may change the spray pattern.
