There is a fun story about a local boat builder who made a new boat for a guy who told his wife he was getting the old one painted. Problem is my wife knows that story.

first rule Don't talk about the boat, if the boat comes up tell her it's payed for and costing you NO money sell all your old crap taking up space and put money aside for boat do not tell her about the money from sell your crap or it wont be for your boat i am in the process of renovating and replacing the floor in my open fish she hates the boat and knows nothing about the boat keep it that way never discuss money and boat in the same conversation

best thing Paul can do is buy new engine and get an old spare lid and chuck on it for a few weeks, then he tells wife he is going to
re-paint the old motor to look like brand new.
paul also needs to go out into the workshop/garage and spend hours in there making loads of dust and noise and telling his wife
to stay out due to bad fumes from paint and dangerous dust from primer.
paul then tells wife he needs to buy new decals for the motor to make it looks just perfect, (paul is realy buying a new fishfinder ).
when finished paul needs to tell her he spent around 200 dollars making it nice and fresh and clean like brand new, because
pauls wife will also want to spend the same amount of some womens crap like shoes or hand bag etc.

Now the hard bit is never being allowed to brag about new motor, because if wife finds out paul has been lying and spent thousands
on new motor, he is in big trouble, Death or maybe even worse ?
she might just turn big macho paul into weird looking Pauline with no anaesthetic and a blunt kitchen knife .

Due to paul not being able to keep his mouth shut and bragging to his buddy's about his new bigger faster motor he now goes shopping I
in walmart with all the other freaks on a Friday afternoon and has found new friends to help him by transgender clothes to fit him...

best thing paul can realy do is Man up and just tell the bitch he is going to buy a new motor for his boat and thats that.

Paul also needs to work the bank accounts a little.... such as have a seperate account and set up Pauls direct deposit at his work so that a certain amount or percent of the gross pay "off the top" goes into the mystery account directly every week for paul to know about and spend on Pauls stuff ... that way the joint bank account with Pauls wife is always being depossited into weekly from work . But also into the "Pauls" play money account. Then when Paul wants to buy something Paul tells the wife the part only costs 1\2 of what it really cost... and pay with half from joint account and half from Pauls mystery account.
