New here, wanted to share a project that I've taken on.
this 1985 Scarab 21 has sat with the plugs out of the block for about 5 years and sat for a good long while.
Originally i thought the block was seized up do to the spark plugs being out for 5 ish years.. after taking one of the heads off to inspect the condition of the cylinder i found that there was some movement from them when the crank was turned ( very little ) and this minor rotation was not being transferred to the outdrive..
SO.. i removed the outdrive and BAM.. engine rotates..
due to the unknown hours and the random bits of things im finding wrong with this block, im pulling the block, replacing freeze plugs, inspecting the crank shaft, possibly changing the Cam out, rebuilding the heads and going from there.

aside from the time this boat has sat.. i cannot find any rot on the transom, stringers are somehow in good shape.
has some minor electrical issues caused from random critters.

very nice cleanup

also I luv the sound of thru-hull exhaust on these 21's

please keep the pics coming!

also looks like you have silent choice in the exhaust...for when the noise patrol are around :)

Engines out, found all the grounds on the back end corroded and falling apart

that would be correct, I'm looking to see if I can find some electronic actuators for that!

So at least 3 Filters were not pumping from what i can tell from the heads.
oil pans been removed, everything's been checked over..
at this point ive got to order parts and start building the block back up.

would it be too costly to X-ray the block for cracks or is that a process only done at the ultra-hi perf level?

so it looks like you have a V8 in a 21'....wow!
