help with transom

i have a TNT (glen-l wooden boat 12' 5") and i have just bought a 35hp merc to put on it. I was wondering if itd be worth it to get a mounting plate to go on the transom or not. also, what would the best way to reinforce the transom on it be? i'll post a pic, hopefully it'll help.

Put some knee braces under the splashwell that tie into the stringers. Those mounting plates do little compared to a pair of knees. If you decide to do a plate then secure it to the treansom with some 3M 5200 or some other wicked strong adhesive.
