I have a mid 80's 45SS (aka SST45) that had a water pump failure. When I went to remove the Impeller from the I had a heck of a time due to some corrosion on the Drive Shaft. Once i managed to slid it up (after cutting off the rubber) by prying in up the Drive Shaft a sliver of white plastic (lying in front of the shaft in the picture) fell off of the flat on the Drive Shaft (a bit hard to see but just visible in the photo).

I was expecting a key similar to the parts list I'm holding in the photo background.

Has anyone seen this before? What is the fix?

Thx

Just checked the replacement pump kit and found the plastic keys. Huh.

Never came across this style before. They have always been keys or splines. Weird part was the part manual showing a key.

This thread is done. Thx

Are you talking about the gasket in the attached photo (IMG_1756.jpg)?392026

Also, the new rubber grommet has a cut out in it. Is there specific clock position for it?
