how much is to much I have a drag block that is -.035" that's gunna put my pistons out of the block .031" I don't really want to cut my piston tops but seems like a lot of piston exposed next problem is even with thickest gasket I'm still around .028" squish way to close ??

.028 is too close. You'll get piston kissing. I'd want to keep it at least .035". Easiest solution is to cut the extra squish into the head, not cut the piston. Cutting the piston changes port timing, something not needed in a Drag

Cut a pocket in the chamber to achieve your desired P/H clearance .

Just the guys I was wanting to reply no problem with so much piston being out of the block? Seems like The flame/burn would not be good to have on the sides of the pistons

A 300xs comes from the factory with the slug sticking up .025 above the deck . No head gasket , O-rings and a .065 plunge cut in the head . No ill effects , the piston won't see any real push until 15-20* ATDC anyway . It see's more side heat from 90* after to BDC than it will at the top .
The benefit in it is that the top ring being closer to the party will sense the change in pressure and seal against the land sooner ..

I had a p max that was decked a ton.....was tighter than .025.....had to send heads off to get chamber cut out....can't remember who I sent em to....thought it was in your vicinity though

Keith, mercury made a thicker gasket for S3000. Part number 27-840322. I don't know the thickness, but Ruck told me that it was used because @ 10,000+ rpms, the pistons touched the heads.
This suposedly cured the problem.

They are .059 that's what I was counting on as the thickest gasket

Box them heads up and send them to diamond.
