Tim and I did a 100+ mile round trip this past Sunday from Lock Park in Stuart to Port Mayaca and across Lake Okeechobee for lunch at Roland Martin's Tiki Bar. The Okeechobee Canal was flat calm and the lake only had 6" smooth rollers on the east side of the lake turning into 1' chop towards the west side. When we entered the lake you could not distinguish the horizon from the color of the water!! It was stunning! I just started tinkering with a Go Pro and selfie stick for the 1st time. Here's my first Go Pro boating videos along with a couple from my IPhone.

Nice run to the big lake Steve. Boats are running nicely. You will be able to top that I think, with some great surfing at the beach in a few days, from Irma. Take some selfie-stick while out there as well!

Gonna batton down the hatches at my house in Jupiter Farms. I have to take down the 20'X20' canopy over both my boats, secure both boat covers, put up hurricane shutters, move patio furniture into the shed, stuff my wife's Grand Cherokee into the garage next to the Harley & golf cart, etc. etc. How about you?? You gonna stick it out??

Yup. Always have, through all the past hurricanes. New impact windows/doors. New "flat" tile roof, etc. HIGHLY recommend impacts to everyone. They seem initially expensive, but the amount of benefits they provide are countless, not to mention peace of mind. Super quite inside the house(no more planes, helicopters, ambulances, cop sirens, fire truck sirens, dogs barking, cat fights, neighbors loud stereo parties, a-holes in there boats going back & forth drunk, stereos blasting at nite just outside of our bedroom on our main waterway, loud motorcyle/hotrod exhaust, etc.,), house value goes up, no hot rooms from the sun baking the windows, all glare is gone, A/C bill(and heating) goes down, no more shutters up & down, make the house look modern, open & close easy, screens for winter time opening breezes, and so on. Worth EVERY penny. Even in the Farms, you would enjoy them greatly.

...I meant, are you going north to surf...or just staying around Hobe Sound, Jupiter, Juno?

That's going to be based upon what the swell and winds wind up doing..

Best thing I ever did was to put in impact resistant glass in my house when I built it. It's everything Fugi says it is. I hate boarding up windows....

..Yup. They just proved they're worth, one more time....Almost forget another reason to have them. Your not shut in, ...in a pitch black house with no light, wondering what is going on outside, throughout the storm. When you add up all the benefits, they're not expensive really.

I surfed last Monday and Tuesday late afternoons (3-6') at Corners in Jupiter, last Wednesday morning 2'-3' glass just north of Juno Pier (had a blast) and Sunday morning from 8:00 to 11:00 am (3'-5' N swell; started out deep with the high tide but was glassy til about 11:00 am until the N winds got on it). My arms are shot. Had to go back to work today. Sadly, it was firing at Juno Pier this morning...4'-6' N swell with calm winds. I plan on surfing tomorrow afternoon and I'm off all day on wednesday!!

It'll be awhile until we do that run again, probably alot of debris in the water. It was great seeing you guys, you should've ran across the lake instead of the rim ditch, wasn't too bad. Glad to hear you guys made out ok with the storm.
