Will a 300X powerhead adapt to a XS mid?

Okay, I found a s/n for a 300X and the bottom gasket of the exhaust plate is the same part numbers as my XS so even though the exhaust plates are different the bottom that mates to the driveshaft housing is the same. Score!

Now I sure which I knew if I can use my XS cowling. I know that the one that comes with the 300X mounts with the bottom cowl sandwiched between the exhaust plate and the powerhead. The XS attaches to the outside of the exhaust plate. I don't know if the profile of the 300X exhaust plate is the same as the XS, the picture in Merc parts launcher look the same but I know they use a lot of representative drawings.

Yes it will bolt up and cowls fit etc.
You will need to block one or two water feeds that go to the port fuel rail.
The exhaust tuner is different but I have had know issues.

Thanks for the response. Could you explain what the know issues are?

The 300X exhaust plates I've seen do not seem to have the ridge around the outside edge that the XS cowling attach to. The more research I do on this option seems like a bad idea.
